A Common Love

Who is the West Point Church of Christ?

The churches of Christ are a collection of nondenominational congregations who are striving to pattern their church and their lives after the principles of New Testament Christianity.

There is no central organization and no church creed or doctrine except that which is derived from the Bible.  The West Point Church of Christ is a cadet ministry located at the United States Military Academy.  While we seek to meet the needs of all members, our focus is clearly as a ministry to the cadets. Cadets actively involved in the church include cadets from churches or Christ and other nondenominational groups.

Leadership for the church is provided by John and Linda Hawkins and Grant and Elizabeth Crawford.

Attendance at Sunday morning services averages about 35-50 people. Most of these are cadets and the remainder are mostly military family members.

During the academic year (Aug-May), we meet in the Cadet Interfaith Center (Building 147), while in the summer we meet with the new cadets and out at Camp Buckner. We are involved in outreach to the cadets and community of West Point.  We try to have a retreat in the fall or spring and cadets are encouraged to invite their friends. God has blessed us with new Christian souls every year. Visitors regularly attend our worship services. The church also meets on Tuesday nights (TNT) for more in depth Bible study and on some Saturday nights (STAND FIRM) for more informal fellowship. The opportunities for outreach in this ministry are great.  The ministry is focused on serving the cadets and preparing them for spiritual leadership as they are being prepared for military leadership.  This creates a unique and exciting opportunity for these God-centered young men and women to “Go into all the world....”
